Slog

Well, I’m into my chapter now. Bit of a slog. You know how you get a moment of clarity or inspiration – “THIS is the way the scene starts!” or, “THIS is how he feels/what she says/ where they go!”

Haven’t had any moments like that yet. Maybe today. Who's a hopeful camper?

In the novel Milkman, narrator has an awkward conversation while holding the head of a dead cat wrapped in her handkerchief. Can I be inspired by – meaning make use of – meaning borrow – meaning steal – that idea? Art is imitation. But I don’t see how….

(I'm no shill but I can't resist sharing. Milkman might be the best book I’ve read this year. Middle Sister my favorite hero since what's-her-name in Fleabag.)
