NOFOMO

Have you been FOMO-ing much lately? Seems as though a lot of people are living their best life. I see the pix and reels. Achieving, winning, enjoying, smiling broadly.
Others are outraged at vile behaviour. I hear their disgust. I see the finger pointing, frowning, eye rolling.
Everyone’s coming in hot. Guns blazing, chins and chests out,10 out of 10. ‘Look at me!’ or ‘Look at them!’ folks are saying. ‘Aren’t I – aren’t they – egregious!’
I don’t know if that’s how the way social media was planned, but that’s what it seems to be.
So this post might not work at all. Unlike Alexander, I’m reporting a ho-hum, okay, could be better but could be worse day.
Is the Camp FUNdament book ready to go? I don’t know.
Has the graphic novel about the bully found a publisher? Not yet.
Is the new I-don’t-know-what-it-is story about a boy trying to catch the monster who crushed his family and turned his best friend into a ghost moving forward easily? No. I’m stuck.
Career-wise, things are drifting between blah and neutral.
On a personal note, I grew a beard which made me look - if you squinted - like Ernest Hemingway and – if you squinted another way – like Santa Claus. It took up a lot of my attention, and I am fundamentally lazy about my appearance, so I shaved it off a couple days ago.
There. I think we’re up to date. No teeth gnashing, no chest thumping. No laugh track or cheering crowd. Regular life in an admittedly privileged part of the world.
I hope you’re not feeling any FOMO at all.
